What's New at RAD Home Theater?

June 2005:
RAD Home Theater has updated its web site!

In addition to the website updates we are also adding three new products at this time. They feature all aluminum cone woofers and an aluminum dome tweeter. The woofers are from the Dayton line, which have rigid yet well damped cones, making the bass and midbass region very clean and low in distortion. The tweeter is the venerable Vifa D25AG35-06, which is considered by many to be the best tweeter that Vifa has ever produced as well as one of the best aluminum dome tweeters available. It has been used in countless high-end speakers over the years, making it an obvious choice for this line of speakers.

The first is a small TM monitor that is the same size as our Metals (12"H x 7.5"W x 9.25"D), and will in fact, be replacing the current Metals. Improvements over the current Metals will include flatter frequency response, resulting in greater midrange clarity, and higher efficiency. Also, the crossover has minimal baffle step compensation applied to allow for closer placement to walls. These will still have bass response that is -3dB at 60Hz.

Next up is a new WTMW 3-way center channel. It consists of dual 7" woofers flanking the same 5.25" woofer and tweeter found in the TM design mentioned above. It measures in at 11.5"H x 28"W x 16"D and is recommended for use on a dedicated floor mounted stand or sitting atop an RPTV. It can be configured in a ported cabinet with a -3dB point of 38Hz and a tapered response that should allow flat response in room down into the upper 20Hz range. Another option is for a sealed enclosure which gives an -3dB point of 60Hz and a Qtc of .6 with the same cabinet dimensions of the ported enclosure. And a third option is for a slightly more shallow cabinet giving a similar -3dB down point but with sharper rolloff below that and a higher Q around .65 or so.

And last, but certainly not least, is the new MTMWW 3-way tower. This speaker boasts the same low frequency extension as the ported center channel in a tall and slender floorstanding design, measuring 48" H (with baseplate) x 10"W x 14"D. It consists of dual 5.25" woofers acting as the midrange drivers, dual 7" woofers for midbass and bass duties and the same Vifa tweeter covering the treble. This design is the rock and hip-hop music lover's dream with strong bass and dynamic capabilities but is also refined enough to be used for any audio application including home theater and 2-channel audio systems. In smaller rooms this design works great without a sub, but definitely benefits from the addition of a subwoofer for increased dynamic capabilities at high playback levels.

At this time we only have a picture of the towers in completely finished, veneered form but all designs are available for order at this time.

February 2004:
New Web Design and New Product Annoucements were made; The 'Metals' and the 'Pulsars' were introduced.

Under our Loudspeakers page you'll find two new products. First is a new 2-way monitor using an aluminum 5" woofer and 1" titanium tweeter. These are named the Metals. Second is a new 2-way tower consisting of a single high efficiency tweeter and nine 3" woofers. These are named the Pulsar 9.1's. If you don't see what you'd like, please feel free to contact us.

Under our Subwoofers page you'll find 3 all new subs. We are offering a 10", 12" and 15" sub; each a low Q sealed design making them perfect for 2-channel systems as well as Home Theater systems. All 3 subs use drivers with Adire Audio's patented XBL2 motor technology which allows for low distortion even under extreme excursion. As far as we're aware, we are the first manufacturer to offer a full line of subs designed exclusively around this new motor technology.

As always, our products are available in our standard oak, maple, cherry, or walnut finishes and custom veneers and stains.

November 2003:
We are proud to announce that we are now the preferred cabinet provider for the GR Research line of speakers! We can provide you with custom-built cabinets in the finish of your choice for the GR Research A/V-1, A/V-2, and A/V-3 speakers. Currently the A/V-1 and A/V-2 cabinets are available with special, self-aligning magnetic grills. Extremely powerful neodymium magnets are imbedded in the grill frame as well as in the speaker's baffle underneath the veneer. This allows the proud owner to do their critical listening with the grills off (and show off their new speakers to their friends!) without those unsightly grill guides available on most speakers on the market. This also allows the grills to be replaced when not in use to protect the drivers from curious little fingers. Standard finishes are oak, maple, and cherry but can be finished in the veneer of your choice. Just drop us an email for a quote. Please specify the finish you would prefer.
